Sports and Events

If you’re interested in sport there’s two famous football clubs in town; Rangers and Celtic, and plenty of opportunities to watch rugby. For all those sports fanatics, Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena is due to re-open in the summer of 2016, built in the West End, and only a 5 minute walk from the property, no matter what you’re interested in doing there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Glasgow also offers a chance to sail and ski (dry slopes) and you’re always able to jump on a train and visit countless iconic and breath taking places outside of the city like Loch Lomond. However, if you’re a tennis lover – you can play at Kelvingrove Park for free!

Shopping

A bit of everything and anything can be found in Glasgow! From the eye wateringly expensive designer shops in Princes Square and Merchant City to The Barras Street market that offer up all manner of bargains for the skint student. A little out of town you can visit Glasgow Fort which includes a cinema, places to eat and enough shops to actually make you drop. There is plenty of transport that head from the town centre to the Fort, so what are you waiting for?

Nightlife

If you’ve not heard about Glasgow nightlife then where have you been? These guys know how to have a good time and there is plenty on offer to keep you entertained. Byres Road is a 13 minute walk from Kelvingrove House; it is a lovely area which caters to many students as it is just a short walk from the University of Glasgow. There are more than 700 pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants, in this area always offering something special to their student customers.

There’s an excellent selection of music venues to visit as well as an IMAX cinema to see the latest film releases.

Within walking distance to Kelvingrove House is the Ashton Lane. Fairy lights, great food and popular bars are all home to this quaint street, where you’re sure to have an interesting night.

Culture

There are plenty of places to visit in Glasgow; if you love art there’s some of the best in the world to be seen in awe-inspiring galleries like The Gallery of Modern Art (the second most visited contemporary gallery not in London). If you’re interested in cultural attractions there’s Kelvingrove House Museum, which is right on the doorstep of the property!

Kelvingrove House Park is a 5 minute walk away from the property where you can get out in the fresh air and study surrounded by the beautiful greenery. The park has a bandstand where events take place throughout the year and a skateboard park where students like to go and watch the local champions skate; or you can just go and enjoy the scenery, whatever takes your fancy!
